American Rescue Plan Act of 2021
MOBILE COUNTY COMMISSION
Mobile County Commission has proceeded deliberately with its more than $80 million allocation from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021’s State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds. Hundreds of funding applications were received in fall 2021, vetted for eligibility under the ARPA regulations by both external consultants and an internal committee, then presented to Commissioners Merceria Ludgood, Connie Hudson, and Randall Dueitt for funding consideration in spring 2022. In April 2022, the Mobile County Commission approved an Initial Strategic Spending Plan. Additional recipients were approved for funding in the fourth quarter of 2022 and the Mobile County Commission released its Strategic Spending Plan Version 2 in January 2023. According to grant requirements, projects may commence once agreements are executed between Mobile County Commission and each of the funding recipients. Approved projects with agreements in place are in various stages of implementation.
