Alerts and announcements for the April 10 severe weather event from Mobile County Emergency Management Agency and Mobile County Commission. Most recent is first. 


2 p.m. APRIL 10

 

Due to winds and rain, residents are urged to use caution on Mobile County roadways and avoid travel if possible during this weather event.

 

Mobile County Department of Public Works is responding to scattered reports of downed limbs and trees in roadways in the SOUTHWEST portion of the County (Commission District 3).

 

To report hazards or obstructions on a Mobile County roadway, residents should call Mobile County Public Works after-hours number: 251-610-2243.

 

Exercise caution if driving is unavoidable.

 


10:30 a.m. APRIL 10

In anticipation of severe weather, ALL Mobile County Parks will close at noon on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.


8:10 p.m. APRIL 9

In anticipation of severe weather expected during the afternoon and evening of April 10, Mobile County's Cedar Point Pier will close at noon on April 10, 2024. 

Cedar Point will reopen at 7 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024. 

 


8 p.m. APRIL 9

Waterfront Rescue Mission is opening as a men’s shelter for the anticipated severe weather on April 10.

6 p.m. APRIL 9

Due to the anticipated severe weather event, all Mobile County Commission offices will close at noon on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

 

The Commission has not closed Mobile Government Plaza. Other agencies housed within will make their determinations and announcements.

 

 


5:30 p.m. APRIL 9

Because of the anticipated severe weather on April 10, three Safer Places are opening in north Mobile County.

A Safer Place is not a typical, staffed shelter. It is a place can go to during severe weather that is safer than the outdoors, a mobile home, or similar.

  • Pets are not allowed except for service animals.
  • Those seeking shelter at a Safer Place should know:
    • Safer Places meet structural requirements, but these facilities are generously provided by organizations in local communities to assist their neighbors, and absolute safety is not guaranteed.
    • To bring any food, blankets, toiletries, medications, etc. that may be needed during the immediate threat and duration of the weather event.
