The Mobile County Commission meetings will hit the airwaves this week with a Wednesday broadcast over Comcast Cable?s Public Access channel, known as Port City 6. The Wednesday broadcast will feature the Monday, October 25 Commission meeting. ?I think it?s a good opportunity to bring the meetings to our constituents,? said County Commissioner Connie Hudson, who made the proposal for the broadcasts. The County Commission is intending to air both its work sessions and voting meetings on Comcast and on Mediacom cable. The county, however, is still in the process of setting up the equipment for Mediacom, as well as the camera system for the work sessions. Mediacom serves most of the unincorporated parts of the county, while Comcast broadcasts in the municipalities. ?I appreciate the effort by both cable companies to arrange for the broadcast of our meetings,? said Commissioner Mike Dean. ?They clearly are extending their resources to better serve our community.? The Mobile County Commission meetings will air on Comcast on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Once the setup is complete, which should take place in the next two weeks, Mediacom will air the County Commission meetings around the clock on Channel 87. ?We make every effort to be accessible to the public, and appreciate and encourage the public?s interest in our work,? said Commission President Merceria Ludgood.
