Leroy Stevens Roadwork Picks up Pace

Posted on: Jul 24th, 2013 | News and Announcements

Mobile County will be setting up its crane to start the heavy work of building the bridge at Leroy Stevens Road, between Country and Nugget drives, where the failure of a culvert pipe forced the road?s closure in March. While the county has fast-tracked the project because of the roadway?s heavy use, its timetable is subject to the ability of local utilities to move lines along the road before the construction can get fully underway. Gas lines were moved recently, allowing slope work to progress over the last couple weeks. Alabama Power will be moving its lines this week, allowing the county to proceed with the installation of bridge components on Monday. ?After our public meeting I understand the urgency of our situation,? said District 3 County Commissioner Jerry Carl. ?I appreciate our Engineering Department?s response to speed the project up.?
