MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. – Mobile County’s Down Payment Assistance Program relaunched Aug. 1, 2024, with a higher cap to help more low- to moderate-income first-time home buyers become homeowners.
Mobile County’s Down Payment Assistance Program is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program. Mobile County’s Down Payment Assistance Program will increase local homeownership, which is a key factor in stabilizing neighborhoods, increasing social and civic engagement, fostering economic growth, and building wealth.
Those who meet federally defined requirements may now qualify for up to $25,000 in down payment assistance toward the purchase of a single-family dwelling located within these designated areas of Mobile County:
- All unincorporated areas of Mobile County
- Bayou La Batre
- Chickasaw
- Citronelle
- Creola
- Mount Vernon
- Prichard
- Saraland
- Satsuma
- Semmes
Housing within the City of Mobile and the Town of Dauphin Island is not eligible for Mobile County’s Down Payment Assistance Program.
