Mobile County Gets New Look, New Voice

Posted on: Oct 20th, 2010 | Announcements

Mobile County has a new look and a new voice with the launch today of its redesigned, upgraded website at www.mobilecountyal.gov. The site will offer new features and easier navigation. The large opening window on the home page will highlight important messages and interesting features: ? Take a virtual drive around Mobile?s first roundabout intersection by clicking on the opening window. ? Meet the road builders - the men and women who actually lay the asphalt and smooth your ride around town. In their own words, the road builders tell you about how they keep people moving through Mobile County. ? Take a virtual trip to our largest regional park in the company of Park Ranger Gary Speede. ? Find out the latest about the oil spill and related health matters. ? Meet your commissioners and sign up for the latest news from your district. ?We want to be as accessible as possible to the public,? said County Commission President Merceria Ludgood. ?We are hoping the new website will encourage communication between the county and the public.? All three county commissioners also will be sending news directly to their district constituents by way of an electronic newsletter available on the new website. Individuals who want to receive the newsletters must sign up for them on the website. The newsletter sign-up is posted on the individual pages of each commissioner and requires only an email address. ?An electronic newsletter means that we have a process for delivering timely news to our constituents without any filters,? said District 2 Commissioner Connie Hudson. ?It gives us another level of openness and dialogue.? Social media also will be available on the new website, allowing visitors to communicate directly with the county through Facebook. They also may sign up for tweets to get alerts on breaking county business and other matters of interest to the public. ?This is our way to improve the access of citizens to their elected officials,? said District 3 Commissioner Mike Dean. ?This will help us better serve their needs.? ###
