Mobile County Official Road Closings, Damage Updates

Mobile County continues to monitor damage and safety threats related to Hurricane Isaac?s winds and water surge and has taken actions to protect the local population. The following is a status update on the storm?s impact locally. Road Closures for Mobile County: 1. SR 163 in Mobile County Closed - SR163/Dauphin Island Parkway - from Perch Creek at Canal Road, to south of Dog River Bridge near Hamilton Boulevard at MP 4.0 thru MP 5.5. 2. I-10 Welcome Center Alabama - Mississippi line at MP 0.1 thru MP 0.2. 3. US 90/98 in Mobile County Closed - US 90/98 Eastbound and Westbound through Bankhead Tunnel from Cochrane causeway to Government Street is closed. Use I-10 tunnel or Cochrane Africa Town Bridge for East/West travel. Closed due to expected storm surge and flooding. 4. US 90 Eastbound in Mobile County Closed - US 90/98 Causeway from Bankhead Tunnel to Baldwin County line at MP 36.0 5. SR 193 in Mobile County Closed - SR 193 from SR 188 to Dauphin Island at MP 0.1 thru MP 8.0. 6. Shell Belt Road South from Niolon Lane to Alba Avenue. 7. Coden Belt Road South from Henry Johnson Road to Hemley Road. 8. Clark Road from Hemley Road to Highway 188. 9. Perch at Dolphin in Foul River 10. Warner at Shellbelt in Bayou La Batre 11. Codenbelt in Bayou La Batre 12. Alabama Street at Heron Bay loop in Alabama Port 13. Little River Rd at Rabby in Bayou La Batre 14. The entire West End of Dauphin Island 15. Bienville Street at Ferry Landing on Dauphin Island 16. SR 193 between 188 and Dauphin Island Parkway 17. Dog River Road at Parkway 18. Dauphin Island Parkway north of Dog River Bridge Curfew for Dauphin Island Dauphin Island Police Chief Darryl Wilson has advised beginning today, August 28, there will be a curfew from 8 pm to 6 am until further notice because of a power outage on the Island. Residents already on the island are advised to stay indoors during this time period. Only Island residents will be allowed on the island at this time. Power Outages - Dauphin Island (2400 residents and businesses without power.) Alabama Power cannot access and start repair until the inclement weather with winds and seas subside. - 2,100 Residents countywide without power in numerous locations within the county. Alabama Power Crews are currently working these issues and will restore power as soon as possible to these areas. - Countywide Snapshot of residents ? 1,100 in Theodore, 450 in Bayou La Batre and Coden, 350 Downtown, 200 in West & North Mobile. - Alabama Power is ramping up operations and intends to have all of the power back in Mobile County by dark tonight with the exception of Dauphin Island. Damage report and preliminary assessments - Sparse reports of trees down county wide. - Many roads flooded because of surge and flash flooding. - County and municipal Publics Works crews are staged and ready for preliminary damage assessments as the weather permits Wednesday Morning. The Mobile County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is continuing to monitor the situation and will issue additional reports as necessary. The Alabama State EOC is activated and at Level I (Fully Activated) at 6:30 am on Tuesday August 28.
