Mobile County commissioners approved a proposal on a 2-1 vote today to hire one of the nation?s top analysts of sports and recreation venues for an in-depth marketing and feasibility study of the proposed soccer complex at I-10 and I-65. Cost of the study is $47,500 and will come from Commission President Connie Hudson?s District 2 Capital Improvement Fund allocation for park development. The comprehensive study by The Sports Facilities Advisory/The Sports Facilities Management (SFA/SMA) team will provide a business development plan for the county. It will be based on extensive study of the site, the market, the proposed facilities and design of the complex, financing arrangements, revenues, operating expenses, programming and much more. A detailed financial forecast will be included, along with an economic impact study for the community. The SFA/SMA group will make recommendations for changes to optimize results. In the end, the analysis will provide a road map for the project?s development, along with documented data about the market that would be important for investor recruitment. SFA has analyzed a portfolio of more than $4 billion in similar developments. SFA/SMA facilities and clients are located throughout the nation and abroad.
