UPDATE Mobile County Road Advisory: Treacherous Road Conditions Make Driving Dangerous Contact: Nancy Johnson June 10, 2012 4:50 P.M. The Mobile County Public Works Department has opened several roads to traffic that had been closed because of flooding during yesterday's rain storm. The following are roads remain closed in the county; all others are open to traffic: Road Closures Road From To Old Pascagoula Road McDonald Road March Road Scott Dairy Loop Scott Dairy Loop West McFarland Three Notch Road McDonald Road Schillinger Road Mobile County Road Advisory: Treacherous Road Conditions Make Driving Dangerous Contact: Nancy Johnson June 10, 2012 10:50 a.m. Mobile County Public Works officials say there has been no change in the status of road closures and flooding events during the early morning hours of Sunday. They urge motorists to be cautious, however, and to stay off barricaded roadways that pose a hazard because of washed out foundations or debris. The county road crews will continue to monitor the roadways today. They caution that continued heavy rains may compromise the foundation of road beds because the ground already is saturated. Again, officials warn motorists to drive cautiously because of flooding and some severe road damage caused by the floodwaters. Barricades on the roadways indicate severe flooding and the possibility that the roadway is obstructed or washed away. See below for a full report on roadway closures. UPDATE Mobile County Road Advisory: Treacherous Road Conditions Make Driving Dangerous Contact: Nancy Johnson Cell: 251-281-3818 June 9, 2012 5:40 p.m. Please add another road closure: Grand Bay Wilmer Road at Newman Road UPDATE Mobile County Road Advisory: Treacherous Road Conditions Make Driving Dangerous Contact: Nancy Johnson Cell: 251-281-3818 June 9, 2012 2 p.m. The Mobile County Public Works Department has closed Oyler Road between Jeff Hamilton and McCloud roads, adding to a number of road closures earlier in the day due to flooding. Meantime, Schillinger Road is open to traffic after flooding required a closure earlier in the day. Mobile County officials currently are surveying conditions on Leroy Stevens Road downstream from Dawes Lake and said it is likely that they will close the road to traffic because the lake's dam has given out and caused flooding in the area. All other roadways closed earlier in the day by Mobile County road crews are expected to remain closed through the weekend. Again, officials warn motorists to drive cautiously because of flooding and some severe road damage caused by the floodwaters. Barricades on the roadways indicate severe flooding and the possibility that the roadway is obstructed or washed away. Crews will continue checking the roads throughout the county and will update conditions through the weekend. Mobile County Road Advisory: Treacherous Road Conditions Make Driving Dangerous Contact: Nancy Johnson Cell: 251-281-3818 June 9, 2012 10:59 a.m. Mobile County Public Works officials are warning motorists to be very cautious on roadways because of severe flooding in the area that has washed out roads or made them impassable. If motorists are unable to see the roadway because of pooling water, the county strongly advises that motorists take alternative routes. Roadways may be washed away under the water or the roadway may be obstructed by debris. If possible, public works officials advise residents to stay off the roads until a thorough assessment of conditions can be made. Crews are checking the roads throughout the county and will update conditions through the day.
