Shelter Hours to Change at Mobile County Animal Shelter

The Mobile County Commission will be cutting early morning visitation hours at the county?s animal shelter as part of efforts to reduce personnel overtime costs. Beginning Monday, July 5, the kennel will open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, a two-hour later opening time. Open hours on Saturdays will remain unchanged, and will be open to the public for adoptions and the reclaiming of animals from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Field operations and administration will continue operations during normal business hours. Yearly, about 8,000 stray animals end up at the shelter, located at 7665 Howells Ferry Road.
